  • Prof. "Louie" & the Crowmatix had a great summer traveling and performing A wonderful time was had by all at The Blueberry Festival in Ellenville, NY...special "thanks" to Barbara and all the crew for a great event...lots of good music and food!

    A highlight this past weekend, The Crowmatix took the stage to perform at the Colorscape Chenango Arts Festival in Norwich, NY. An estimated 15,000 people came out to enjoy this arts & music two day event - filled with great performances... Patty Larkin, Jeremey Kittel, The Kennedys, The Dust Poets and many more... Thanks to all the generous sponsors, admission and activities were free of charge. Special "thanks" goes out to Ken Millet from the Night Eagle Cafe & staff - for all the hospitality and great food and to all the friends and fans...much appreciation to you all for supporting the performers!

  • Professor "Louie" & The Crowmatix had a great time at the SOAP BOX DERBY at the Rondout, Kingston, NY on 8/20 - so many folks came out to enjoy all the festivities..many awards were given out .. so many creative ideas ..the soapboxes were great! The Crowmatix played well on into the afternoon and it was a wonderful party on the waterfront. Much "thanks" to the City of Kingston, WKZE, Marbletown Hardware (World's only Rock'n'Roll Hardware Store) Ballantine Communications and all the fans and friends who came out to enjoy the day.

    Professor "Louie" & the Crowmatix had a wonderful time performing at Rick Danko's Tribute Concert in Simcoe, Ontario, Canada...jamming with great musicians... a fabulous show! "Thanks" to The Lions Club, Tony Duclos, Terry Danko and all friends and family for their hospitality and friendship. On their way back from Canada, The Crowmatix and the ROA Horns had a great time headlining the show at The Ribs on the River Festival in Toledo, Ohio...beautiful setting on the waterfront and really good food! "Thanks" to all our fans & friends out in Toledo...see you next time around.

  • Congratulations to the Cabin Dogs and their successful CD release party for "Electric Cabin" at the World Cafe Theatre in Phil., PA... Prof."Louie" had a great time performing with them.

    Professor "Louie & The Crowmatix are busy in the recording studio working on new songs and have just returned from a very wonderful trip to Detroit, MI. Special "Thanks" to M.L. Liebler, Noah and all the folks who made the teaching and concert events so successful. Great shows - especially the double bill at Wayne State University with Poet/Performer and Writer Sekou Sundiata..fantastic performance...a night to remember!

    The new CD "Electric Cabin" by the Cabin Dogs is rising up the Indie Radio charts across the country from Maine to Utah and beyond...check out the great songs.

  • The new CD "THE SPIRIT OF WOODSTOCK" by Professor "Louie & The Crowmatix which has been released by the New York State Museum was picked to be the "Record of the Month" by John Ziegler at Radio Station "KUMD" in Duluth, Minnesota.   • Professor "Louie" has returned safely from his second successful trip to Novosibirsk, Siberia Russia He has finished filming the documentary of his travels teaching and playing music with the great musicians there. We hope to have some footage up on the site soon.

  • "Prof. Louie" has just returned from Novosibirsk, Siberia in Russia after a successful two weeks of performing and teaching. It was an amazing and interesting trip and many photos and stories will be posted soon.

    Upon his return, the Professor joined the Crowmatix in Chicago for a wonderful concert to help raise monies for the music programs of the St. Paschals School there. The Crowmatix would like to thank Phil Vaughn of Secret Agent Entertainment for his generosity and hospitality.

    Prof. Louie & The Crowmatix ended this event with an all out Jam with special guest Danny Seraphin, drummer of the group Chicago - what a great show! This past Thursday, Prof. Louie & The Crowmatix kicked off The Woodstock Blues Festival at the Landau Grill in Woodstock, NY.

  • Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix latest CD "CENTURY OF THE BLUES" has been on The American Radio Roots charts for seven weeks at #16 and they are in excellent company with great acts.

  • PROF. "LOUIE" & THE CROWMATIX had a wonderful weekend...first performing to an enthusiastic crowd at Bodles Opera House in Chester, NY and then performing at The Towne Crier in Pawling, NY sharing the night with Commander Cody and The Lost Planet Airmen. Both gigs turned out great and everybody had a good time! Thanks to all our fans for the support.

  • Because of the success of "CENTURY OF THE BLUES" CD and Aaron Prof. "Louie" Hurwitz work with "The Band" and other American Roots artists, Prof. "Louie" has been invited to Novosibirsk in Russia to perform "CENTURY OF THE BLUES" with musicians there from May 7 to May 19. He will perform at select clubs and a special show for The Novosibirsk Philharmonic CEO and special guests. Prof. "Louie" also will be conducting workshops & master classes for The YMCA-Smile program with Executive Director, Edward Shornik (w) . Prof. "Louie" will be performing a spoken word concert with Detroit Poet ML Liebler at the University of Novosibirsk and is hoping that this will open the door for The Crowmatix to go to Russia for concerts and the Russian musicians will be able to come to The United States for shows.   • Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix want to "thank" everybody who came to the special concert at "The Egg" in Albany to celebrate Ernie Williams' 80th Birthday. What a great night..four bands..great music and a wonderful after-party in the lounge dancin' and partying with Ernie & Kathy Williams and friends.   • Prof. Louie & The Crowmatix have recorded "Holiday Time is Here" a new original holiday song at their studio, LRS Recording Studios , Hurley, NY with the Chambers School Choral Ensemble . These 15 students, all eight and nine years old from the Kingston, NY area, sang beautiful harmonies throughout. The recording of "Holiday Time is Here" will be sent out from Prof. "Louie" & the Crowmatix as their annual holiday CD card. It1s also available as a special holiday download.   • Prof. Louie & The Crowmatix have been promoting their new cd "CENTURY OF THE BLUES" . They have performed on and have received airplay from various radio stations - WKZE - Sharon, Ct., WPKN - Bridgeport, Ct., WDST - Woodstock, NY. The cd will be released in stores in early 2005.

  • New release from Woodstock Records - BRIAN MCALONIE - NAKEDSCUBABOY . Brian is a gifted singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Brian has been performing in the Northeast region especially in-store appearances at several Borders locations. The cd is produced by drummer Gary Burke and special guest on keyboards and accordion is Professor "Louie".

  • Aaron Prof. "Louie" Hurwitz is presently in LRS Recording Studios, Hurley, NY working on a new CD by the Kwait Brothers from Philadelphia, PA. Look for more info about this cd release in the near future.

  • Prof. Louie & Michael Falzarano performed a very special DUO show - "Americana Diaries" A Journey through American Music -in concert in Berkner Hall at the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton,NY (Central Long Island) Blues musicians Patrick Sweany, Michael Falzarano, Aaron "Professor Louie" Hurwitz, and Marjorie Thompson will also be featured at the BNL Music Club-sponsored concert that will celebrate the American acoustic blues tradition.

  • Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix have just returned from a successful summer road tip traveling to Buffalo, Detroit and Canada where they performed at many venues and also at the Windsor Bluesfest International, The Thunder Bay Blues Festival and also at the London, Ontario Festival. The crowds were great and the Crowmatix would like to thank everybody who came out to the shows as well as all the friends who helped them have such a good time.

  • Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix recently performed a special concert with The Adirondack Repertory Dance Theatre. Special "Thanks" to ARDT Artistic Director Pamara Perry for her innovative choreography to the Crowmatix tunes and to all the dancers, pianist/composer Jonathan Newell, ARDT Instructor William Otto and all the technical personnel who made this concert so wonderful.

  • The Kingston, NY Chambers School Ensemble under the direction of Mona J. Stovall recently recorded at LRS Recording Studio, Hurley, NY. The 15 students sang on a new original song by Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix - "Holiday Time is Here" which will be released next fall. Photos and info will follow.

  • Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix have just returned from Chicago after a successful concert at The Saint Patrick Performing Arts Centre. Special "thanks" to The Secret Agent Entertainment Group School of Music, Inc .for its new program "Giving The Gift of Music". It was a great event helping to raise monies to keep music programs alive for the children in the school.

  • Gary Burke and Aaron L. Hurwitz have just produced an exciting CD from J.D. Coy recorded at LRS Recording Studios. J.D. Coy's backing band for this new recording was Prof. "Louie" & The Crowmatix ....watch for it's release date soon.

  • Prof."Louie" & The Crowmatix were recently featured by Kingston Consolidated Schools in their newsletter, for their involvement with the Chambers School Choral Ensemble.   • "Thanks" to Joe Kelly of WVOF, CT in making the holiday song  "Santa Loves To Boogie" by Prof."Louie" & The Crowmatix #1 on his radio station and also playing   from Larry Packer's CD "Eye of the Sun" the song "Hold On."

  • Miss Marie( with Prof."Louie" & The Crowmatix ) has her new CD entitled "Collection" and is now available online for ordering. This cd will soon be available in record stores through   Rock Bottom Distribution.

  • Professor "Louie" has just produced Graham Parker performing Pink Cadillac on a CD called "Light of Day" a tribute to Bruce Springsteen. Proceeds of this CD will go to the Kristen Ann Carr Fund and the Parkinson's Disease Foundation. The CD is on Schoolhouse Records and includes other artists such as Dion, Nils Lofgren, Patty Griffin and more... check out www.lightofday.org.

    Professor "Louie"& The Crowmatix have performed numerous times on The Mitch Albom show in Detroit, MI and most recently they played for two days on the show as part ot their mid-west concert tour.

  • Professor "Louie" performed on accordion with Jesse Winchester at The Bearsville Theater. Both shows were filmed and recorded for future DVD release. Jesse Winchester's Band consisted of Prof "Louie", Artie Traum, John Sebastian, Valerie Carter, Jim Horn, Jon Pousette-Dart, Vince Malmet, Jerry Marotta, and Victor Krauss.

  • Gary Burke - In addition to the work with Professor "Louie" on Juliana Hatfield's new album, Gary was in the studio recently working with Dr. John on a soundtrack for a Whoopi Goldberg TV series for this fall on Nickelodeon. Gary was also music director for the 'house' band on the recently broadcast 2003 CMT Flameworthy Music Video Awards.
