DEBUT ALBUM

12 heartfelt original tunes. Singer/guitarist RoseAnn found her voice as a songwriter while keeping her country roots. Growing up in New York’s Hudson Valley and now living in NYC, RoseAnne’s songs are a new and refreshing convergence of roots rock & NY street smarts. With her expressive singing and distinctive style, she went into the studio to record with Producer Aaron L. Hurwitz (Professor Louie.) Also featured on the CD are The Crowmatix and guitarist John Platania. Her melodic narratives are emotional & compelling.

Lyrics

Change My Mind

I used to lay inside the imprint your body made
And I would search your drawers when you were away
But all I ever found were boxers and empty space
And if you'd searched through mine you'd find letters from men of your same fate

Chorus:
But I can't change my mind
I can't make this right
I can't sleep alone again tonight
Tonight

Some days you'd find me scrunched up in the bath
The water running fast as if to cure me of all this bad
And you'd take the drink away when I got sick
Now all I think about are the ways I did us in

But I can't change my mind
I can't make this right
I can't sleep alone again tonight
Tonight

And there's this curse I got that keeps me running away
From every home I've had, from every bed I've made
And there were nights in bars where I wished you'd let me stay
So I wouldn't have to be the one that has to say

That I can't change my mind
I can't make this right
I can't sleep alone again tonight
Tonight

City Lights

The heat is rising and the city is such a mess
And baby, baby I'm in some kind of distress
I am trying so hard to stay true
Cause the last thing I want is for me to make you blue

Chorus:
And I love to see the city lights
Cause I know I'm going to make it through another night
And I hope to keep you in my mind while you're away

I hate this city when you're not here
That's why I'm begging baby please come back dear
When you're gone I feel so alone
Cause this is the last place I'd want to call my home

And I love to see the city lights
Cause I know I'm going to make it through another night
And I hope to keep you in my mind while you're away

I know you are not the jealous type
So I can't lie and say I met a guy the other night
Yes I know there is nothing that I can do
To make this time any shorter without you

And I love to see the city lights
Cause I know I'm going to make it through another night
And I hope to keep you in my mind
While you're away

You & I

Smokin' all night on the stoop
Just trying to hold on to this youth
But I know soon these days will fade
And will only be left with what we've made
Right now that's not looking like much
Drowning in drink with this bad luck

Chorus:
Screaming ahhhhh you and I, here

Just the other day you said another one left
Headed to the south for a town less wrecked
Wanted to find a place that would hold him tight
But in this city baby we're always look for a fight

Screaming ahhhh you and I, here

Your eyes are saying we should get out to
Buy a house and put down some roots
You tell me I'm just like the rest
But as long as I'm singing I haven't given up yet

Screaming ahhh you and I, here

Seventies Trousers

I saw you on the stage
I had a groupie gaze that I would never admit
And I followed you back to the bar, complimented your guitar
I felt like such a fool
And you wear seventies clothes
You talk real slow, my nervousness shows

Chorus:
If you want to be with me
I think I could be what you need
And if you think it's alright
I'd like to talk with you tonight

And I felt so insecure like I was back in high school
Wanted to come off cool
I figured you like the silent type not the kind like me
Who's too loud stays up drinking all night
There's a look on your face, gives me faith
But I might just be a little bit crazed

If you want to be with me
I think I could be what you need
And if you think it's alright
I'd like to stay with you tonight

We can talk about Shelley and Keats
Or the books that I'll pretend that I read
Cause I am, no good with words
My verse is so honest that it hurts
It's just I've never fallen so far for a stranger in a bar
And I'm trying too hard

If you want to be with me
I think I could be what you need
And if you think it's alright
I'd like to stay with you tonight
I'd like to talk with you tonight
I'd like to stay with you tonight

Hallways

Tossing and turning all through the night
We stay the same, but were covered in light
And you read me stories when I can't sleep
But I turn away cause the ending makes me weep

Chorus:
Why do we scream in silence
Why do these dreams always haunt my mind
As I run through the halls of our old house
Caught in all of our lies

Sometimes it's like you were never here at all
The cold is like the damp under the leaves of fall
The cat scratches to eat against the sheets
But I just lay in your scent hoping it will comfort me

Why do we scream in silence
Why do these dreams always haunt my mind
As I run through the halls of our old house
Caught in all of our lies

Boxed Wine

Been trying to write a song that will mean something
Seems all I sing about are the ones that went away
Faces I can't remember, names I can't recall
But you're the one I put above them all
Words come easy for the ones that did me wrong
It's so much harder singing about the ones you love

Chorus:
I want you to realize there's no where I'd rather be
Than sitting in the kitchen drinking boxed wine
Bob Dylan singing "I shall be free"
And I've got this debt that I can never repay
But I can promise you I'll make sure that were okay

I know people talk about how your little girl ran away
How she went to the big city where she did stay
I hope you don't think it was something you done
Cause I had it better than anyone
You gave me this guitar and you gave me this heart
But if I'd stayed in that town I would have lost all I've got

I want you to realize there's no where I'd rather be
Than sitting in the kitchen drinking boxed wine
Bob Dylan singing "I shall be free"
And I've got this debt that I can never repay
But I can promise you I'll make sure that were okay

I watched you work away your entire life
But you said we had the music so we'd all right
You're always so hard on yourself
But you did the best with what you were dealt
You filled the house with stories and you filled the house with love
Any good in me I got from what you've done

I want you to realize that there's no where I'd rather be
Than sitting in the kitchen drinking boxed wine
Bob Dylan singing "I shall be free"
And I've got this debt that I can never repay
But I can promise you I'll make sure that were okay
And I'm just a call away, I'm just a call away

Packed Up

This house can't hold us anymore
Everything we love has become an eye sore
A reminder of all the failures we made
A reminder of all the love that did fade

Chorus:
So come and see me, I'll try not to hide
So come and see me, so I can sleep tonight
We can hold each other close cause the heatings been turned off
And our lives are all packed up

Do you remember all those nights we stayed up drinking
And you would tell me about a story that you wrote
A little girl trapped inside a corn field
I prayed that that girl wasn't you

So come and see me, I'll try not to hide
So come and see me, so I can sleep tonight
We can hold each other close cause the heatings been turned off
And our lives are all packed up

You always kept yourself hidden from me
So I shouldn't be surprised to see you go
And you say change is the best thing for us now
But I tell you that I just don't know
Cause I think change is the biggest lie
It will help you grow that is if you don't die

So come and see me, I'll try not to hid
So come and see me, so I can sleep tonight
We can hold each other close cause the heatings been turned off
And our lives are all packed up

Little Girl Lost

Little girl lost, little girl lost are you crazy
To think that you could leave without me tonight
Little girl lost, little girl lost you're so tiny
Please don't try and cross that traffic light

We found you at the dinner party
A tall glass in your hand and you stood up at the table
I knew that you were going to try to take a stand

And I said…
Little girl lost, little girl lost are you thinking
Cause that was your first mistake
Little girl lost, little girls lost you're so perfect
Don't ever leave, don't ever change

Then we found you in the foyer
Bags packed at your feet
And I told you, you would never
Make it without me out in the street

And I said…
Little girl lost, little girl lost are you crazy
To think that you could leave without me tonight
Little girl lost, little girls lost you're so tiny
Please don't try and cross that traffic light
Don't cross that traffic light

Till The Morning

It's two o'clock, I'm headed down the block
See you looking through the glass
You give that smile, I smoke outside awhile
And when I come in you've poured my beer
Stay till lights go down, stools go up, the music's loud
And I tell you what I fear
The street is void of cars as we stumble down Ditmars
The illusion dies, it's just another night putting up a fight

I could make you smile, if you stayed awhile
I could make you feel and you could see how fair life can be
If you stay with me till the morning

On the day we met, I placed my bet
You were a rich kid who didn't know nothing yet
Then songs were sung, fights were won
I admitted I was wrong
There was a week I was so happy I couldn't speak
Whispered I love you while you sleep
And you tell me I'm a fool
Well only fools have fun like I do
I wish you would try it too

I could make you smile, if you stayed awhile
I could make you feel and you could see how fair life can be
If you stay with me till the morning

Then you told a lie, I didn't have to ask why
I've flown off the handle for less
I get jealous, I make a mess
But I'm not like the rest
Kid, I've had it bad the kind of stories you've only read
Spending nights by hospital beds
You say don't let me off the hook
Well I won't, but I wish I knew what it took
To make you want something real

I could've made you smile, if you'd stayed awhile
I could've made you feel and you could've seen how fair life can be
If you'd stayed with me till the morning
But I won't stay with you till the morning

Murder Song

She lay behind bars
Her arms tied up and charred
For a crime that she knew she did commit
Cause he pushed her around
He threw her to the ground
And she knew that she just couldn't let him live

Chorus:
And she screams oh, oh, oh, oh
Let me go

She waited till after dark
He lay there so still and soft
And the night unfolded like a favorite book
She waited till he fell asleep
A cleaver at her feet
And she knew she had to do the deed

Chorus:
And she screams oh, oh, oh, oh
Let me go

But when she woke in the morning
He got up to brush his teeth
The cleaver still at her feet
And he demanded she make his breakfast tea

And she screams oh, oh, oh, oh
Let me go, Let me go, Let me go, Let me go, Let me go

My Good Friends

You're a real mean drinker, but you think you hide it well
Whispering insults in my ear, you think no one can tell
You're a real mean drinker, but I can hang with the best of them
And you're getting real drunk, gonna fall off your stool
Everybody laughs they love when you play the fool
I used to laugh to, but that joke isn't funny anymore

Chorus:
And you said life might have knocked you down
But get the hell out of this town

So we're dividing up the city, you've got your half I've got mine
You're looking at Brooklyn, but I think Queens is fine
We're dividing up the city cause this borough isn't big enough for us both

And I said life might have knocked me down
But you can get the hell out of this town

So there's rumors spinning around about all the bad things I've done
I don't shrug ‘em off, but I admit to none
Cause it's easy to pin it on the girl with the biggest mouth
And I'm thinking this is gonna end in some trashy bar room fight
Where you throw a drink at my head and we kick and scream all night
The only way to end it is the way that it began

And you said life might have knocked you down
But get the hell out of this town
And I said life may have knocked me down
But you can get the hell out of this town
